Residents invited to have a say on preferred option
The deadline for people to have a say on preferred options for mineral and waste sites in Kent is approaching.
The consultation, which closes on Monday, July 23, is the second stage in a three-part process that makes up the minerals and waste site plans, which Kent is required to develop by law.
Of the original 106 site proposals, 25 have been identified as preferred options in the minerals plan, which include sites for aggregate recycling, and 21 as preferred options for waste uses.
These are considered to be the best, most sustainable and deliverable solutions for Kent’s minerals and waste needs up to the end of 2030.
Following this, the next stage is consultation on the draft Mineral Sites Plan and Waste Sites Plan, which will eventually be adopted by the council after an examination in public conducted by an independent planning inspector – a process similar to a public inquiry.
